I have been in quite a creative slump lately and have neglected all things creative for far too long. It's been ages since I've made any jewelry, did any embroidery, made any quilt, sewed any piece of clothing or anything. Fibromyalgia and spinal pain issues have made it difficult to do things I've enjoyed.
I've been starting small by downloading, printing and coloring mandalas. I need to recharge and rehabilitate my ability with color, design, composition and other things that go with art. I've been helping other artists by being an art model.
Goals to break out of this rut:
1) Draw in the ol' sketch book at least once per day even if the sketches look like shit at first. Gotta quit nit-picking and censoring myself before I even have any kind of concrete concept.
2) Write ANYTHING even if it's not the best right now. Gotta get back into the habit of MAKING myself write. Tiny little pieces can turn into something better later. You can't make a mosaic without tiles, even if you have to collect tiny pieces as you go.
3) Get out the hoops, scrap fabric and leftover floss to practice stitches again.
4) Do something with the scrap fabrics for quilts. Make a crazy quilt for fuck's sake! It's better than nothing.
What do you, dear readers recommend to break out of massive blocks and begin to be productive once again?
